We’re already weeks into the new year. I commented just recently that it always surprises me when I am booking clients and we’re looking at another month gone by! I have clients booked months ahead in this new year. Whew! Time flies!
So, how is your new year so far? In my last post I challenged you with a new kind of New Year’s resolution. Rather than looking for something negative or weak that needs to be changed or improved, I challenged you to look at the positives about yourself and commit to making them even better. Maybe you had a hard time because you don’t like to think so much about yourself. Maybe the idea of change leaves you dazed and confused. Not to worry. We can find a way around that!
Let me give you an example from my own life. As I have mentioned in the past I have a new book waiting to be published. I anticipate it to be out within the next few weeks. I am currently working on another book, A Men’s Daily Devotional based on the book of Proverbs, and have two more book ideas in mind. In order to get a 365-Day devotional written and ready to publish before the end of this year I need to be getting lots of words down on paper. Here’s where my personal challenge comes in…
In order to make this an achievable goal, rather than write whenever I feel like it or giving myself too great a burden (like having to write every day for the rest of my life!), I have committed to writing something at least 5 days a week. To add to that I will need to write several days’ worth of the devotionals at each setting in order to get it completed in a timely manner. So, I have taken something that is a good thing for me to do (writing) and made my own resolution to make it better and accomplish more (write 5 days a week).
One of the things about resolutions is that we can make our own resolution and never tell a soul. That way no one knows if we succeed or fail! However, that’s not the path that I recommend for you. First thing I did on mine was to tell my wife. That allows for accountability, and I don’t mind her reminding me!
So…did you make any resolutions to improve what is already a good thing in your life? Did you tell anyone? Your spouse? A good friend? A parent or sibling? If so, did you give them permission to gracefully remind you to hold you accountable to complete it?
Once again, this is one of the purposes and benefits of Life Coaching. I am glad to work with you to set goals and resolutions and to come alongside you to help with accountability. Contact me via any of the info below to set up a free discovery call!
